Shumpei, Valérie | RUN | General | Cryo-LH2 | RUN 326 |
Run 326 start: 6h59
Beam: 9C
All Triggers: T1 to T8, CATS1% CATS2% PLASTIC%
Divisions: CATS1, CATS2 3. 10**4 ; Plastic% 10**4
Dead time between 8 and 15%
CATS2 X19 strip not running since Run 322
Total beam I 1.3 to 1.5 10**5 pps in CATS1, CATS2.
CATS2 700V 0.14 ľA.
I ~ 1.8uA to 2.0 ľA primary beam
We asked PCP to reduce to 1.7 ľA in order to avoid CATS1 tripping.
But CATS1 is continuously tripping even when we decrease the HV from 670 V to 660V then to 650V.
2 minutes ok see scalers at 7h18.
At 7h20 we try CATS1 HV 640V. Tripping.
At 8h02 we try again to put ON HV on CATS1. 640V ok, with I ~ 0.04 ľA (low value) for beam around 10**5 on CATS2.
It is running... (see un326_BeamTracksAt8h09.png )
With low efficiency, but at least we can check the beam trajectories. See Run326_BeamTracksAt8h09.png
Trip at 8h13. |

/home/e748/analysis/nptool/Outputs/Analysis/runtest.root (run_0331_0.root?) was analyzed.
DSSD energy vs theta_lab plot for triton is attatched.
The gates to select triton are also shown.
gate;
target position on target
chio vs Qplastic rough Z=4
DSSD energy vs TOF mass=3 and no signal in CsI
Only MM1 is analized.
We need more statistics, but we can't analyze CsI data maybe because position matching with DSSD? |

Hi,
Thanks for looking into it. We made quite a lot of change in the analysis yesterday. There was several mistake and especially one on cats inverting X axis, so all angle were wrong previously.
Also the energy loss in the target is setup for 3He, so you expect the 3H line to show at a higher energy than it should ! Sounds good! |

Telescope 6&7 are analyzed for 12Be beam.
The energy of Si vs angle plot for each telescope (CsI veto and beam position gate on target) is shown.
For MM6 (left), a locus for punch-through is seen maybe because CsI veto gate is not so good.
The red lines are kinematics for 12Be(d,d) and (p,p).
Two loci seem to correspond to each elastic scattering. |

Shumpei | OFFLINE | General | Cryo-LH2 | 37Ca (p,d) 36Ca |
37Ca (p,d) 36Ca reaction is analyzed (run 191-195).
Gate condition;
1. beam on target by CATS1&2
2. TOF gate for 37Ca
3. recoil deutron gate by MUST2 only T3
4. fragment gate by CHIO and plastic
Only T3 is used for analysis and the angle is intentionally shifted 1.0 deg to match the kinematics for 40Ca (p,d).
Ground and 2+ state of 36Ca are observed in Z=20 gate, while a higher lying state is seen in Z=19 gate.
This result seems to be consistent with that of 38Ca (p,t) 36Ca. |

Used data : Run 0284 & 0285 (about 4 hours data)
CsI energy calibration parameters are from previous experiment, optimized for deuteron
10C(p,d)9C
gate:
1. target gate by CATS1&2
2. deuteron gate by MUST2 dE-E
3. fragment gate by CHIO and plastic for Z=6,5,4
Ground state of 9C (bound) and first excited state of 9C (2.2 MeV, decay to 8B + p) are seen.
10C(p,t)8C
1. target gate by CATS1&2
2. triton gate by MUST2 dE-E
Not clear as (p,d) but sign of ground state is seen.
Kinematics is shifted for each telescope, probably because energy calibration and the position of the telescopes can be shifted.
Coincidence of alpha and (or) multi-proton can be helpful. |

Used data run run0284-0302 (almost all for 10C beam)
CsI calibration parameters are the same as E755 exp (deuteron optimized),
10C(p,d)9C
Gate:
1. beam position on the target by CATS1&2
2. deuteron gate by dE-E MUST2 T1-T4
Offset of the position of MUST2 T1-T4 was determined by 10C beam direct hit component. Target Z position (beam direction) is shifted 12 mm to match kinematics of 9C g.s.
Ground state of 9C and first excited state of 9C (2.2 MeV) are clear. Higher excited state around 6 MeV.
Statistics for T2 is smaller because 2 CsI crystals are not working (known before E755 exp,).
10C(p,t)8C
Gate:
1. beam position on the target by CATS1&2
2. triton gate by dE-E MUST2 T1-T4
Same position offset of (p,d) is used.
Ground state of 8C is clear, but energy of each CsI crystal seems to be shifted. |

Shumpei | BEAM | General | Cryo-LH2 | triton contamination in the 9C beam setting |
In MUST2 dE-E plot, strong locus for triton E ~ 40 MeV exists.
Kinematics for triton bellow 45 MeV matches the kinematics of triton 40MeV beam proton elastic scattering.
If coincidence of proton required, still exists for some region (proton forward scattering with enough energy to pass through DSSD).
Kinematics for proton matches the kinematics of recoil proton by 40MeV triton beam.
Sum of the proton and triton energy has a peak around 40 MeV.
Locus still exists with TOF gate by CATS1-HF.
Triton energy for (p,t) reaction will be higher than ~ 50 MeV, so can't be a background.
The total number of triton bellow 45 MeV and above DSSD range in run0312 (80 minutes) is ~ 20000 (~ 4 cps for all the telescope). |

Shumpei | CATS | General | Cryo-LH2 | Analysis with only one of the CATSs |
Analyzed data : run 0331
Used reaction : 7Be(p,d)6Be (ground state and 2+ state 1.6 MeV are mainly populated).
Method;
X and Y position on each CATS is compared with position on the target deduced by both CATSs. Assuming the beam profile is not changing, the correlation of these positions can by fit by linear function.
The position on the target can reconstructed with only one of the CATSs, with worse resolution. Beam angular spread seems rather small than angular deduced by only 1 CATS.
In terms of the excitation energy resolution,
sigma of the Subtraction of (both CATS Ex)-(only CATS1 Ex) ~ 0.53 MeV
sigma of the Subtraction of (both CATS Ex)-(only CATS2 Ex) ~ 0.32 MeV
Original estimated Ex resolution is ~ 1 MeV, so not so bad.
In terms of the background from the frame of the target cell, roughly can be removed by target position. Near the center part gate should be more secure. |
