alpha source test - cooling 14°C

Remarks:
- The two new detectors (MG2 and 6) seem functional;
- MG11 annular, ok for sectors (Y) but many rings have double peaks;
- MM1 current was oscillating yesterday evening with values around 3 uA, this morning it was stable at ~0.55 uA.

We analyzed the behaviour of the annular. We realized that the 4-peaks behaviour on X was already present last year but only on one sector, now it's on two sectors. We noticed that there is a correlation between the malfunctioning sectors and the missing strips on Y. Last year there was only a missing strip on Y, affecting only one sector on X; now 3 strips are missing on Y, affecting 2 sectors on X. We believe that the fact that the boundings are missing have an impact on the grounding, therefore the sectors are not always biased properly, resulting in an oscillation of the pedestal. We estimate that this will cause a loss of efficiency of ~25% for the annular (from ~90% to ~67%).

Short alpha source run (not saved on disk) to test the detectors.

Summary :
- MG1,3,4,5 and 7 are all OK (few more strips missing on Y)
- MM1,2,4 OK
- MM3 has a lot of strip missing both in X and Y and current has increased wince last campaign (4uA)--> katpon should be checked
Fixed, , Wed Jan 22 18:39:54 2020, Marlène & Franco, GRIT, Hardware, , Tests of the new box box_pin_map.pdf
The new box has been tested together with the new CAEN SY4527 power supply. We connected a laptop with Linux to the power supply by means of an ethernet cable and communicated with it by opening a browser (http://192.168.0.1, then username: admin and pwd: admin). To control the channels we open a terminal, go to the folder where we saved the file ChannelsController.jar and run the command: java -jar ChannelsController.jar 192.168.0.1 admin admin
The output biases were checked with a test cable connected to the flange output and are reported in the attached file. For comparison we did the same thing on 3 Mugast detectors (MG1, MG3 and MG4) We saw that the polarity of all the 3.3V in the new box was inverted with respect to the Mugast box so we opened the box and, like sappers, we followed the colored cables until we found the ones giving the 3.3V and inverted them. It worked! So now the biases should be correct. A reminder for possible future modifications: the coupled colours for the wires are blue-grey, white-brown, yellow-green.
Some low voltages seem to be unused because they are present in some BT outputs but not in others, but anyway the detectors which are supplied by these cables have always been working properly, so the small differences between different BT outputs might be irrelevant.
It is then important to notice that BT2 and BT3 have a -2.5V instead of a +2.5V so it's recommended not to use them unless the relative cables are first switched inside the box.
Fixed, TEST, Wed Jan 22 15:53:25 2020, Marlène, GRIT, Hardware, , Changes for MUGAST2020
Changes were made for MUGAST 2020 :
1- the board for MG10 before (2nd square) is now for MG6 new trap
2- the board for MG9 is put vertical and used for the MUST2 at 90 deg
3- a new board has been installed for MG2

Now there will be 13 detectors in the chamber: 7 trap + 1 square + 4 MUST2 forward.
Pending, TEST, Tue Jan 21 17:55:12 2020, Marlène, MUST2, Hardware, , Ovv error on the -5V of CAEN boards BT_referenve_5V_cables_inv_a_comp_referenve_5V_partMUST2BT_referenve_5V_partMUST2_cables_inv_a_comp_referenve_5VBT_referenve_5V_partMUST2BT_referenve_5V
The Ovv error shows on the -5V (first one) of the 3 board (5,3.3,10V for MUST2§squares)
It means that the voltage is over the asked value.
If we ask 5V, we get 5.5V in reality

We changed for 4.5V and we get 5V. The current is different from the one on the MUGAST BT box but we don't know how many detectors are connected.
We exchanged cables and found the same current in the other board, so we guess that it is still working properly.
A check of stability should be done.
Fixed, TEST, Wed Dec 4 19:19:38 2019, Marlène, GRIT, Hardware, , Modifications of set-up
We have installed the new MUFEE board in the reaction chamber for MG2. This board is a new version with ATHED.

We have moved the MG9 board to become the board to read the future MUST2 detector at 90 deg. This board is now perpendicular to the other ones. We have tested the kaptons connection to the detector and the placement of the detector.
The design will be refined on monday with Patrice.

The board that was reading MG10 is now used for MG6.

Every board has been tested again with pulser under vacuum. Everything seems OK.
Fixed, TEST, Tue Dec 3 18:14:45 2019, Marlène & Franco, GRIT, Hardware, , Pulser test of new board
The new board that will be installed for MG2 has been tested and validated with a pulser outside of the chamber.
Fixed, TEST, Thu Oct 17 12:01:09 2019, Franco & Marlène, GRIT, Hardware, 3-alpha, Test of configuration with 4 MUVI and 3 GAMERS Mugast_alpha_17102019Mugast_alpha_17102020_2
The electronics set-up for MUGAST2020 has been tested with 4 MUVI on 4 VXI crates, 1GMT for MASTER and 3 GAMERS for slaves.

Configuration file is named mugast.das
We have modified the mugast.detector and the parameters for MUVI4 with names:
- MUVI4_ch1 : MG2
- MUVI4_ch2 : MG6
- MUVI4_ch3 : MG8
- MUVI4_ch4 : MG12 (not used and not tested)
For the 3 first channels of MUVI4 we connected MG1, MG3 and MG4.

Cables for MUVI4_ch2 is not working (to be repaired).

With the alpha source (double side) we were able to run during all night and it was stable (attached are pictures of alpha source).
We notice that the rate of MG7 is lower (1/3) than the other ones (as usual). We tried to increase bias but leakage current is also increasing proportionally.
We also notice that 3alpha source shows lower statistics in the last (higher energy) peak but all detectors backward see the same.
The rates of MG2 and MG8 are consistent (there was no pedestal suppression).

We performed a pulser test of MUVI4 putting 5000Hz rate. The dead time is about 97%. It is consistent with MUVI1 in the same condition (5000 Hz and no pedestal suppression). The dead time is 90% when we suppress the pedestals.
