Freddy | OFFLINE | General | | MUST2 offline analysis of run 323 |
Here is a plot of the MUST2 PID for telescope 3:
- dE - TOF with a veto on CsI_ to remove direct 12Be hitting the detector.
- dE - E ungated for a given crystal close to the beam axis
It concerns only 1 million events. |

Freddy | OFFLINE | General | | PID from NUMEXO merged (partially) |
Here is the PID(dE Vs E) plot obained using the IC energy from NUMEXO Vs the plastic energy coded in our acquisition for the long run of last night (323)
The resolution is indeed about 10% (estimated on the 12Be spot.
One can see another line around channel 185 in IC.
By looking at the merger code in more details, it seems obvious that we do not do the merge properly. Size of the file after the merge is much smaller than the input file and some event seems to be duplicated.
It has to be investigated and modified. |

Freddy | MUST2 | General | | Pedestals and alpha calibration analysis |
Calibration coefficients for MUST2 telescopes were extracted from run_0118 (acquired during night from 13th to 14th of May). They are now located in the folder:
/home/e748/analysis/nptool/Projects/e744/Calibration/Energy/Calibration/Summary_run_0118
Based on the analysis of this run we realized that:
- T4_StripX had pedestal normalization issue (for MATE 1,3,5,7) and alpha peaks were enlarged or doubled.
- Pedestals used until today (23rd of May) were based on the pedestal measurement of the 28th of April !
Due to that, we remeasured the raw values of the pedestals today and compared them with the one used up to now.
The differences (in channels) between these two pedestal values for each telescope are plotted on the attached figure (X from 1-128 and Y after).
The drifts can be partially understood by the fact that the conditions evolved a lot during one month (cooling system temperature, etc).
For the online analysis, calibration of run_0118 (13/05) will be used but they somewhat lie in time between the two pedestal measurement (28/04 and 23/05).
However it is important right after the experiment to perform a new alpha calibration in conditions much closer to the measurement. |

Freddy | MUST2 | General | N/A | T4 Comparison of calibration runs |
Attached is a comparison of two calibrations performed before the experiment (2 weeks and one day before) for Telescope 4 (the one having a degraded resolution in Ex on the offline).
One can see that:- The T4 resolution for strips X has been degraded between the two source runs.
- The T4 resolution for strips Y remains ok and should be used for the analysis (slightly degraded only)
- From the pedestal extrapolation, it also seems that there was a global drift for some channels.

Fred, valérian, daisuke | DAQ | Software | N/A | Scalers to be recorded |
The U2M scaler data cannot be recorded to the data in the current version of Narval. So there were no scaler data during the measurement of 40Ca.
To resolve the situation, we added register parameters for specified channels of U2M. This allows us to record the counts of a given channel at each event.
Here is the procedure by Fred
---
---
Notes:
- the parameter name should be 15 characters or shorter. If not, the compilation will take forever.
- More registers, more dead time. So we included only CATS, CAVIAR, Plastic, DT and 100 Hz clock. |

Wednesday 30th May.
Beam back at 6h59. Run 2116 started at 6h69. STOP at 8h33 (beam rate decreasing at the end of the run due to machine problems).
Around 6-6h40 Leakage alarm problem was solved by Sébastien Le Moal (see last entry) and Qpoles were set again.
Wien filter +/-0.8 kV.
target n°4. CH2 104 µm
All triggers, (no LISE)
Divisions CATS1 3. 10**4. PPT 3000 ; EXL 10**4
Night morning shift team: Louis, Valérie; François arriving at 7h just on time to apply the values of the Qpoles in D6 and to check the beam profile on PR62Gaz.
See LISE notebook for the printed beam profile. The plot of MM impacts looks good.
Beam intensity around 100k pps at 7h15.
cf current of T4 around 15 µA at 7h15. |

François | DAQ | Software | | TDC problem |
Problem :
TDC labels are 0. After the compilation of action list the labels seem to appear (if I remember correctly), but after a save/reload of the config they are gone, and in all cases no event coded (on the oscilloscope a validation point is visible, but do not know what this means in the case of a TDC – even after looking in GANIL wiki related doc).
Solution :
Solved by Fred. He made "init" at the VME MUST2MASTER in the RCC. |

19H
They succeeded to get 90 % transmission with CSS1 but the energy at the exit was changed by 4%, that is not compatible with the CSS2 limit of 1 %. After fitting the CSS1 energy they obtained 70-80 % transmission only, but it is enough. The problem with the HF of CSS2 was solved. They are trying to accelerate with CSS2. They are now at midway inside CSS2. They still need several hours to finish the work.
15H
The problem with CSS1 is not yet solved. They want 90% transmission of the beam in CSS1, they have 75%.
There is another problem, the HF of CSS2 has dysfonctionnements.
They don't expect beam before 20H. |
