Fixede755 Wed Jun 27 10:15:36 2018 takeshiRUNGeneralCryo-LH2run summary for 38Ca + liq. H2
Here is the summary of the measurement of 38Ca + liq H2 setting.
We obtain 49.45-hour data acquisition time, which contains 1.4 * 10^6 CATS DIV triggered event.
The CATS DIV factor is 30000 for each CATS, so we can estimate the "gated beam rate", the beam rate including dead time of the DAQ, was 1.2 * 10^5 cps.
This value implies the dead time of the data acquisition is almost 50%, since the physical count rate of CATS was about 2.5 * 10^5 cps during the run.
Similarly, we totally obtained 2.2 * 10^10 counts of "gated beam". This value would help to compare with and estimate the statistics of the 36Ca setting.

See google spreadsheet for detail.

Fixede755 Wed Jun 27 22:11:20 2018 Pierre LouisOFFLINEGeneralCryo-LH2Offline analysis of 38Ca(p,d)37Ca
Here are some plot summarizing the analysis status on the 38Ca(p,d) channel.

Run concerned: 128-156 (from 25/06 @ 17h11 to 27/06 @ 7h03)
Running time: 33 hours
Gates applied:

  • Target Impact (from CATS)
  • Deuton in dE-E
  • Incoming 38Ca, TCATS2_HF in [200;1000]
  • Outgoing (Z=20)Ca, dE-E (IC-PL)

We analysed statistics in the Ground States of 38Ca(p,d) and compared to statistics of the 38Ca(p,t) channel telescope by telescope

38Ca(p,t)36Ca:

T1: mean = -0.84
sigma = 0.608
Count number = 302

T2: mean = -1.06
sigma = 0.76
Count number = 238

T3: mean = -1.70
sigma = 0.77
Count number = 342

T4: mean = -1.57
sigma = 1.21
Count number = 271

TOTAL_t_GS = 1153

38Ca(p,d)37Ca:

T1: mean = 0.71
sigma = 0.73
Count number = 2868

T2: mean = 0.18
sigma = 0.66
Count number = 1828

T3: mean = 0.23
sigma = 0.81
Count number = 3536

T4: mean = 0.127
sigma = 0.88
Count number = 3240

TOTAL_d_GS = 11472

Remarks:
  • see 10 times more statistics in the ground states of 37Ca than in 36Ca
  • resolution of the t channel is 80% of the resolution of the d channel
  • excited states in (p,d) channel are more populated than the ground state

Offline analysis of LISE run0281. F31 = +/-0.6 mm, without wedge.
The number of counts of 37Ca was 900/50 = 18 times larger than 36Ca.
Comparing this result with a LISE++ simulation, if the Brho setting is optimized for 37Ca,
we expect to gain 12 x 4 = 48 times higher beam intensity.
Considering that the EPAX parametrization tends to over predict production cross-sections of neutron-deficient
exotic nuclei, the prediction for the 37Ca yield would be more reliable than 36Ca.
A rough estimate of the beam intensity is shown below.

36Ca 1.5 pps (100 nA, +/-6 mm) -> 37Ca 100 pps (100 nA, +/-6 mm) -> 37Ca 16 kpps (4 uA, +/-24 mm)
