For reference, we include a picture of the LaBr3 background found by some random Google searching until we found a nice happy looking picture.

Remember (I'd forgotten despite having literally had this conversation with someone in the past) that the LaBr3 internal background lies at exactly the same energy as the 40K room background (which is why LaBr3 isn't good for environmental monitoring, innit) so you don't know whether the peak there is from the internal activity or the 40K from the energy (however, on the basis of how much activity of each is around it's from the internal activity).
Ongoing, e744, Tue May 29 01:33:58 2018, Phil, Valerian, Franck, EXL-PPT, General, , Gamma-ray spectra from PPT PPTSpectrum2D.pngPPTSpectrumPromptPeak1.pngPPTSpectrumPromptPeak2.png
Attached are plots of gamma-ray energy spectra from PPT.

2-D plot is the PPT-CATS time (from PPT-MUST2 and MUST2-CATS time, obviously).

Two 1-D plots are PPT energy spectra gated on the two loci which can be seen in the 2-D plot.

Note that the 1.6-ish MeV line which may ordinarily expect to be due to the internal background from LaBr3 appears strongly in the prompt spectra and isn't really randomly time-correlated. We are suspicious, however, that the resolution is too good and that the peaks may be an artefact. We are checking this and will update this post accordingly.

start: 8h37m01
stop: 9h26

Target nbr 4: CH2 (104 um)

Remark:
- Telesecope 4 is tripping all the time during this run. Impossible to put more than 50V. Even at 40 V, the leakage current is fluctuating around 8 uA. It seems like it is dying.
- LISE spectrometer adjustment during run - The attached plot show the final result of the beam tuning.

Beam: 14O (1.5*10^5 pps)

start: 9h27m29s
stop: 9h50m35s

Target nbr 4: CH2 (104 um)

Warning: Telescope 4 HV was at 40 V at the beginning of the run. The leakage current finally stabilized and decreased down to about 1.5 uA. We tried to increase the HV to the nominal voltage of 80 V but the leakage current suddenly raised to 10-15 uA again. We decide to let it to 60V for a while. In short Telescope 4 data can't be used for this run.

start @ 20h00
stop @ 21h35
Beam intensity from 8. 10**4 pps to around 10**5 pps
target n°4. CH2 104 µm
All triggers, (no LISE)
Divisions CATS1 3. 10**4. PPT 3000 ; EXL 10**4
cf current of T4 to be checked regularly. At present with the beam the current is around 10.5 µA (fluctuates between 9 and 11 µA) for HV set at 60 V.
Beam rate is reduced at the end of the run, around 4000-5000 pps.
The machine operators are trying to recover the initial rate.
Next run (2113) will be started in the low rate conditions.
