There is a continuous decrease of efficiency in the Drift Chamber. The efficiency of IC is also not optimal. I suspect that with this beam intensity (5x10^4 in VAMOS) detectors may start to suffer some damage. If the efficiency keeps decreasing we need to consider to reduce the beam intensity.
In order to check the efficiency, there is a script in /home/mugast/Analysis_e744 called EffCheck.C
Open a root file: root -l RootA/r0XXX_XXXa.root
Load the script: .L EffCheck.C
Launch the script: EffCheck() (the calculation is automatic) |

Around 8-10 events are found in the good energy vs Brho region and Si_T vs Si_E region for the gamma emission.
Joined are :
- the cut done for Energy vs Brho
- the "good" Events plotted on the Si_E vs Si_T spectra for each telescope.
one can see that most events are in, or close to the punch through but some of them ~8-10 are not -> very good candidates for proton after gamma emission |

We received a call from PCP telling us that VAMOS has tripped. Currents on all focal planes are 0. We tried stopping and restarting the FP_CATS0 - FP_CATS5, but this does not resolve the issue.
A picture of the VAMOS control screen is attached. Diego has been contacted.
EDIT:::
Diego has informed us that the focal plane current is not the issue. The problem instead is with G1.G.D4.P (dipole?) in VAMOS. This has tripped off (see second attached image). He has advised us to call Bertrand to fix this.
EDIT2:::
Bertrand called an operator, and the VAMOS count rate is now back up to normal. The whole process from crash to fix took ~half an hour |

at 2h50 beam intensity reached 1.1x10^6 pps in CATS for 6.5x10^5 pps in VAMOS. The transmition decreased to 60% without any shift of the beam position. Does it come from a loss of efficiency of VAMOS at high counting rate? |
