There was a problem with the scalers, not all of them were working. After several tests, we changed the electronic module, from Lecroy ECl-NIM-ECL to module LPC translator NIM-ECL. We checked all channels, they work. For a while channel N°4 was not working. We changed the nim cable, it works now.

After struggling with the noise, we achieved ~ 50 keV resolution.

Source = 1 alpha peak 241Am E=5.485 MeV

Detector E1D6 50 µm 25 V in principle, but set to 100 V
Detector E2D6 300 µm 70 V in principle, but set to 100 V

PA gain = 20 mV/MeV

Maximum output signal of the new PA (differential) = 8 V.

There is a leakage of water in cavity north of cyclotron CSS1. I discussed with Alain Savale.

There are 2 options:

1) We take the beam as it is, probably deteriorated, with a lower intensity. There is a risk of break up in CSS1. The vacuum of the cavity is maintained probably by a small piece of ice only.

2) They can make a new setting of CSS1, using only one acceleration cavity (south). They would stop the north cavity and reduce the water pressure. In this case the beam is also deteriorated.


Decision:
We chose option 1 and we will observe the stability of the vacuum in CSS1 in time. If the stability is bad, vacuum too bad, later in the day they will decide to go to option 2. This means several hours without beam (may be a few hours).

9H10: D5 stopped at 9H10. We asked for the beam.

9H48: Still no beam. There is a problem with the beam current limits set in the accelerator. They have to change it from 40 nAe between CO1 and CSS1 to 3.8 µAe after CSS2.

10H05: Still no beam. Vincent arrived for the air conditioning of D6.

10H23: No beam. They have to re-align the beam in the alpha line.

11H45: Beam is back after alignment of the entrance of the LISE line
