We scanned Brho2 values so that the yield for 36Ca is maximized (LISE run0282-0284, F31 = +/-6 mm).
Attachment 1:
Yields of 32S, 30P, 29Si (strong contaminants) and 36Ca as a function of the Brho2 value.
We can see that different contaminants dominate if the Brho2 setting is changed. The shaded region corresponds to the momentum spread
determined by the slit F43 (0.25%, shown only for DeltaBrho2 = 0%). The 36Ca yields are too small to see.

Offline analysis of LISE run0281. F31 = +/-0.6 mm, without wedge.
The number of counts of 37Ca was 900/50 = 18 times larger than 36Ca.
Comparing this result with a LISE++ simulation, if the Brho setting is optimized for 37Ca,
we expect to gain 12 x 4 = 48 times higher beam intensity.
Considering that the EPAX parametrization tends to over predict production cross-sections of neutron-deficient
exotic nuclei, the prediction for the 37Ca yield would be more reliable than 36Ca.
A rough estimate of the beam intensity is shown below.
36Ca 1.5 pps (100 nA, +/-6 mm) -> 37Ca 100 pps (100 nA, +/-6 mm) -> 37Ca 16 kpps (4 uA, +/-24 mm) |

Summary of Brho1 and Brho2 optimizations for the 37Ca beam.
Attachment 1:
Results of the Brho1 scan. Corresponding LISE run numbers are also shown in the figure.
As the beam intensity was fluctuating, the counting rates were normalized with respect to the intensity.
By changing Brho1, we tried to search for the peak of the 37Ca production. The yield seemed to reach the maximum at around 2.10 Tm,
although sometimes the rates were not reproducible (see the data point of the run 306, for example).

By lowering the thresholds (see Attachment 5-8) 89% tracking efficiency was achieved.

Analyzed run 312 (9C physics run). CATS calibration files with lowered threshold values
(/home/e748/analysis/nptool/Projects/e755/Calibration/cats/CATS1_X.e738.npt, etc.) were used.
Using the total E information from the plastic, tracking efficiencies for each beam species were estimated.
Two different position reconstruction methods (ASECH and CENTROIDE) were also compared.

We did a gate on IC_E:PlasticQ on particle with same Z as the beam.
We obtain the 37Ca bound state spectrum. The spectrum is coherent with known state at 0 1.6 2.9 MeV (green thick line) and no count above Sp (dashed red line). |
