shumpei | OFFLINE | Hardware | N/A | 8MeV alpha source T5&T6 |
8MeV alpha source image on the target was reconstructed from T5&T6 hit position and target position information.
The target is something like 2 cm diameter collimator.
Now the center of the image is a little bit close to T6(bottom) maybe because the center of the target is placed to bottom side at room temperature since the target length will be shorten when it is cooled down. |

takeshi | TARGET | Hardware | N/A | current cooling status of the cryogenic target |
This is the temperature log (temperaturelog.png) of the cryogenic hydrogen target during the cooling test done last night.
The temperature of the heat shield (green line) and the cell (blue line) increased while it went the minimum values at once.
In addition to the overall behaviour, a narrow peak was found (peak, png) in the cell temperature which anti-correlate to that of the heat shield. We consider this is due to the contact between the cell and the heat
shield.
We could not try liquefying test this morning since the temperature was not enough low.
I would attach the boiling points of several gases in a vacuum (boilingpoinnt.png). We suspect the rebound of the temperature is due to adsorption of vapour such as N2 at 20 K and H20 at 150 K. |

shumpei, daisuke | RUN | General | 3-alpha | RUN0040 8 MeV source run with liquid hydrogen |
RUN 0040. started 7:23 am
8 MeV source was set upstream at 0 degrees to confirm that the target is filled with liquid. The target has been cooled since 4 pm yesterday. From the record of temperatures and pressure, it is likely that hydrogen stays in the liquid phase. It has yet to be confirmed if hydrogen inside the cell is still in liquid or partially evaporated.
target cell 18.180 K
heat shield 114.62 K
H2 gas -0.23 atm
M2C 3.09e-6 mbar
There are events in T5 and T6, but without any clusters formed at an energy of 250 ADC channels (expected energy for alpha particles that traverse hydrogen gas). Need more analysis to conclude. |

Here I attached the temperature graph which is daisuke discussed at the meeting.
Both the heat shield (blue line) and the cell (green) increase after the minimum at 8 hours.
They had a second minimum at 21 hours and now they are increasing. |

We suspect the impurity of the vacuum causes the rebound behavior of the target temperature.
Here is the data of the vacuum level v.s. the target temperature as it increasing.
As Daisuke explained at the meeting, we are monitoring two point as temperature reference, the cell (A) and the heat shield (E).
The detail discussion is still ongoing. |

I would report the temperature log of the target up to now.
We started cooling the target at 2:21 last night.
The attached file is the temperature graph. The black lines are the today and the other colors are for reference. The thicker line is the heat shield and the thiner line is the cell. Note the time offset is adjusted by about 1 hours, to match the blue reference line (Wednesday data).
Both the cell and the heat shield show the same behavior as Wednesday up to now. |
