Franco | GRIT | Hardware | N/A | Pulser on MG11 MUFEE Y |
I managed to obtain the spectrum with the pulser on the annular (Y side, namely sectors).
The raw strip numbers where I should have the 16 sectors are: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48 and 50.
The 5 strips I could see with the alpha source are: 20, 40, 44, 48, 50.
Now with the pulser I don't see the following strips: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 36, 40, 42, 44, 48, 50.
So the pulser apparently doesn't go through most of the channels that are connected to a sector and all the channels that were ok with the alpha source now don't see the pulser...
The plots below are the pulser energy vs the raw strip number with a zoom on the region where I should have all the sectors. The plot below is the projection on X (strip number) of the first plot, now considering all the strips -> only strips connected to sectors don't show the pulser peak.
Concerning the rings, most of them see the alpha source but only few of them (the ones between the two red lines in the last figure attached) correctly display three peaks. The others have many peaks as a result of missing sectors on the Y side. |

The first plot attached has been done by artificially removing 7 deg in theta lab, just to see if the the kinematic lines of 47K(d,d) and 47K(p,p) can be reproduced. Of course the energy losses are not optimized in this case but anyway the agreement seems nice.
In the second plot I moved MM5 forward (in z) by 17.5 mm, without any re-orientation in x and y. We should compare this position with the one measured by the surveyors.
It looks like we have plenty of protons in the target but actually the Rutherford cross section at 80 deg for (p,p) is 4 times higher than the (d,d) one. From a quick estimation the ratio 2H:1H in the target should be around 3:1 (to be checked!). |

- Updated the macro for the angular distributions.
- For the angular distribution of the peak at 4 MeV excitation energy I think we need the calculation for the transfer 0f5/2.
- Added the gamma spectra gated on the 3 main peaks in Ex in the macro DrawPlots.C (arrows and labels of the gamma should be added). |

Franco | OFFLINE | General | CD2 | Mugast detectors disaligned in Ex |
The Ex distributions gated on the different MG detectors show large differences, up to 500 keV. In the attached figure I show as an example the comparison between two nearby detectors, MG3 and MG4.
I tried a rough alignment of the Ex by shifting it manually and setting the first main peak at Ex=0 (essentially taking MG5 as the reference, since his first peak is at 0).
These are the shifts applied:
MG1 -> -580 keV
MG2 -> -280 keV
MG3 -> -550 keV
MG4 -> -100 keV
MG5 -> 0 keV
MG7 -> -400 keV
The resulting Ex distribution is plotted in the second attachment, compared with the original below. The resolution of the first peak (assuming there's a single level there) is 420 keV FWHM.
I think it would be worth having the position of the MUGAST detectors re-measured. |

Faïrouz, Sylvain, Francois et Franck, Bertrand | BEAM | General | LiF | Beam profile updated |
To solve the very high counting rate observed on AGATA (and on MUST2 with a lesser degree), the beam was retuned.
After inspection of the beam profile in VAMOS, Bertrand tuned the vertical steerers G1.DC21-VE (from 0.5 -> 0.0A). The consequence is a shift of 2mm in vertical position at the target position.
Everything seems back to normal. |
